In 1998 after 170 years of continuous production, the manufacturing of pig-iron in so-called Lower Area was discontinued. VÍTKOVICE MACHINERY GROUP, the Moravian-Silesian Region and the Union of „The Lower Area of Vítkovice“ now provide the visitors an opportunity of visit/tour of the area including Hlubina mine, coking plant, blast furnaces and the other technological facilities of metallurgical basic industry and energetics. Since 2002, the area of Hlubina mine, coking plant, and the blast furnaces has been a National Cultural Monument. In 2008, the Lower Area of Vítkovice was inscribed on the the European Cultural Heritage list. The objective of the reactivation project is not only to preserve the NCM but to give it a new, useful and modern face – by gradually changing the space and buildings of the NCM into the university, the research and development and cultural facility including free time zones. Visit us and you will see amazing technical heritage of the past and you will learn the great future of our National Cultural Monument! VÍTKOVICE MACHINERY GROUP contributes with the visits to the National Cultural Monument to the fulfilment of the project titled Ostrava by means of visits - The European City of Culture.
The regular visiting season starts on May 1 up to November 30

The guide services in the premises of the National Cultural Monument are provided in complex manner by external guides. The guide provides for accompaniment and instructions to a school group with a maximum of 20 persons + pedagogical supervision or to public group with a maximum number of people of 25. The recommended time of arrival to the visit is approximately 10 minutes before the guided tour starts.

The area of the National Cultural Monument is subject to construction works according to the revitalization project of this area, which can in some days require changes of the extent of the visit and the above-mentioned visit route due to elimination of possible risks during movement of persons in the premises of the Natural Cultural Monument.
Taking photographs: It is included in the price of the visit and it is possible to take photos only of the objects in the National Cultural Monument.
Conditions for entering the National Cultural Monument:
Valid entrance ticket, provision of data to the book of visitors, listening and accepting of the safety instructions, signature of the declaration of underwent instruction. During the visit the visitor is obliged to wear a helmet, to obey the instructions of the guide in the course of the visit, to move only in accompaniment of the guide and on the route defined by the guide. In the course of the visits it is forbidden to drink alcohol, to smoke and it is recommended to use solid shoes. The parents are held responsible for the minors. In case of commercial visits in the interest of VMG, the visits whose organization is requested or accepted in advance by the management of the company, visits of the state administration employees and the employees of the authority responsible for care of historical monument as well as visits of media employees on the basis of recommendation of media board and accompaniment to these professional (gratuitous) visits is ensured preferentially by the employees of the VMG individually without using external guides.
Visit of photographers for the purpose of acquiring special photographs is accepted only as individual commercial case.
Sale of VMG souvenirs: Will be possible before and after the visit to the area.
